About the Director
Prof. Dr. Mehmet ODABAŞI — Laboratory Director & Professor of Biochemistry
Prof. Dr. Mehmet ODABAŞI received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Hacettepe University, focusing on affinity-based polymeric microspheres for the selective removal of pathological molecules from human plasma. Following postdoctoral work in biomedical materials, he established the Biomaterials & Translational Research Laboratory in 2010.
His research bridges polymer chemistry, immunoaffinity separation, and clinical hemoperfusion systems, with particular emphasis on antibody-functionalized microspheres for cholesterol and toxin removal, and membrane-based devices for organ-support therapies.
He has supervised over twenty graduate theses, served on the editorial boards of several biomaterials journals, and maintains active collaborations with clinical and engineering partners across Europe and North America.
